Termite Inspections

We carry out pest & termite inspections on the Gold Coast in accordance with the Australian standard AS 4349.3. The visual timber/pest inspection report will identify past and present termite activity and/or termite damage. It will also include recommendations for termite control regarding conditions conducive to termite attack which may be present on the day of the inspection. If no current termite management system is present on the property we are able to provide you with an accurate quotation for:

Inspection Tools

We use the tools as recommended by the Australian Standards namely the moisture metre and acoustic tapper to assist with the detection of live termites and/or termite damage. We also have available the thermal imaging camera which can aid the inspector to detect larger termite (white ant) infestations that may exist within a wall cavity.

Further Investigation For Termites

The inspector may recommend further investigation if he detects high moisture readings within the property. Wet areas of the property, like the shower, laundry walls and the external walls are areas where moisture is often detected.

The cause of high moisture readings can be because of a lack of ventilation, or if there is a water leak within a wall cavity. Determining the cause may require the installation of a couple of snap vents, or the technician may use a borescope which allows him to see inside the wall cavity with a small camera.

Unfortunately termites are attracted by moisture and we will often find active termites within the wall cavity. A further investigation is also recommended if we discover termite damage within a property. If we can not quantify the extent of this damage it may be necessary to remove wall sheeting to fully determine the extent of the destruction.

Permission is always required from the owner of the property before we can carry out a further investigation.

Building Inspections

Our sister company "Inspect My Home" carries out building inspections on the Gold Coast in accordance with the Australian standard AS 4349. The visual building inspection report will list any structural or significant defects as detected on the day of inspection. The inspector will carry out a full external and internal inspection this includes the roof surface and roof void of the property*, paths, fences and retaining walls. The inspector will also check the sub floor of a property where applicable.
